Axle Oil Seal: Removal and Installation The axle oil seal must be replaced every time the axle shaft is removed and installed. Refer to [ Axle Shaft: Removal and Installation ] Rear Axle (M226 Type) . CAUTION: Do not reuse the axle oil seal. The axle oil seal must be replaced every time the axle shaft assembly is removed from the axle shaft housing.
