INFORMATION When checking retail delivery date information and open recalls for 1998 vehicles, it is possible to have vehicles with the same last six digits of the VIN and same model year, but yield two different VINs. This is due to the fact that one is built in Germany and the other in Finland. If this is not verified, the wrong VIN information will be given by the VRU. Example: German VIN .......... WPOCA298 4 W S 620748 Finnish VIN ........... WPOCA298 9 W U 620748 PROCEDURE Verify the VIN when it is repeated back by the VRU. INFORMATION Until further notice, ALL warranty claim entries for 1998 vehicles must be entered with the entire 17 digit long VIN. Short VIN entries might yield the wrong VIN.
