TSB : Diagnostic Aids

Brakes

Details

Intermittent problem may be caused by poor connection, rubbed-through wire insulation or broken wire inside insulation. Enhanced Diagnostic feature of Tech 1 scan tester can be used to check frequency of problem. Any circuit suspected of causing intermittent problem should be checked thoroughly for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken connector locks, damaged terminals or poor terminal-to-wiring connections. Check for vibration effects using Relay Test feature on Tech 1 scan tester. With Relay Test activated, lightly tap the top and sides of ABS enable relay while monitoring relay voltage. If relay voltage changes significantly, replace ABS enable relay. If Code 14 is only set when vehicle is initially started in cold ambient temperatures less than 32°F (0°C), replace ABS enable relay.
