The procedures for the repair have been outlined in the Operation PRIDE documentation distributed to all Dealers. TIB 76/21/96/US issued in association with this Service Bulletin repeats the procedures for the replacement of jammed sunroofs. It is important that the following policy be adhered to whenever replacing Discovery sunroofs: Installation of the sunroof assembly (BTR8240) is the only acceptable repair procedure when the removal of the headliner is necessary to perform the repair. BRT8240 is used in both the front and rear locations and is currently in ample supply. Both the front and rear sunroof assemblies are to be replaced whenever one is found to be defective. Installation of upper and lower frame assemblies is NOT an acceptable repair except in emergencies and when authorized prior to the repair. Fax a Request for Authorization to Land Rover if such a situation should arise. Please ensure that all responsible personnel are aware of these requirements for sunroof replacement to avoid repeat failures of sunroofs and the additional costs and customer dissatisfaction which result.
