TSB : Diagnostic Procedure
Details
Ensure all appropriate connections are clean and tight. Repair as needed. Turn ignition on. Access PCM connectors. Using voltmeter, backprobe harness connectors. Do not disconnect connectors. Go to next step. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 8 (Blue wire) on PCM connector C256. Battery voltage should be present with solenoid on and zero voltage with solenoid off. If voltage is within specifications, go to step 6). If voltage is not within specifications, go to next step. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connector C256. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 8 (Blue wire). If resistance is 13-27 ohms, go to step 6). If resistance is not 13-27 ohms, go to next step. Disconnect transaxle 6-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between terminals No. 3 (Brown wire) and No. 6 (Violet/White wire). If resistance is 13-27 ohms, go to step 6). If resistance is not 13-27 ohms, go to next step. Check continuity of circuit between shift solenoid "A" and PCM. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair as needed. If circuit is okay, go to next step. Reconnect all harness connectors. Road test vehicle. Retrieve DTCs. If code P1743 is still present, replace PCM. If code is no longer present, problem may be caused by poor connection. Repair as needed.
