TSB : Theory Of Operation
Details
The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module receives outputs from each of the four Wheel Speed Sensors (WSS). The wheel speed sensors are a two-wire sensor that are known as active wheel speed sensors. The sensors convert wheel speed into a small digital signal sent to the ABS Module. A magnetic pole encoder serves as the trigger mechanism for each sensor. At each wheel of the vehicle there is one wheel speed sensor and one encoder. The wheel speed sensor encoders are internal to the wheel bearings and are not serviced separately. The air gaps between the wheel speed sensors and the encoders are not adjustable.
