Publication date: 1998-05-01 Reference number: SECTION 6, NO. 62 MULTIMEDIA TRAINING SOFTWARE UPDATE VERSION 2.0 MULTIMEDIA TRAINING SOFTWARE UPDATE VERSION 2.0 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Reference Number(s): SECTION 6, NO. 62 JAGUAR RECOVERY DISK VERSION 2.0 - WINDOWS 95/CURRENT JAGUAR SOFTWARE, LOADING INSTRUCTIONS Model(s): All Jaguar models Section: General Information Bulletin Number: 6-62 Date: May, 1998 NOTE: This is an Administration Bulletin. ISSUE This bulletin outlines the procedure to bring the Multimedia Training PC software up to current status (including the Windows 95 operating system) as of May, 1998. When completed the PC will have two boot partitions named JAGUAR and DEALER. The DEALER partition is for installing any non-Jaguar applications you wish to use. ACTION To update the Jaguar Multimedia PC you should have the following diskettes/CD ROMs at hand: Jaguar Recovery Disk Version 2.0 set ,CD and diskette) * Electrical for Beginners Version 1.0 (CD) * Password Recovery Disk Version 1.01 diskette) * Introduction to XK8 Version 1.0 (CD) V8 XJ Series Introduction Version 1.0 (CD) PDU to PC disk V2.0 (CD) JTIS DISC Issue 4 (CD) * Any other Jaguar Multimedia Training course disks (issued after publication of this bulletin.) - Mailed together. Install the software in the following order: Jaguar Recovery Disk Version 2.0 Follow the instructions in the booklet provided in the CD case. When the operating system installation is completed, remove the recovery disk and boot diskette from their drives. Electrical for Beginners Insert the Electrical for Beginners disk to the top CD drive. Starting at the Windows 95 main menu screen (called "Desktop"), use the mouse to select Start, then Run. Type in the box, D:\update and press enter. Windows 95 will run a program to update the operating system and then restart your computer. DO NOT remove the Electrical for Beginners CD from its drive yet. At the Desktop screen, double click on the Jaguar Multimedia Training icon. At the lower right corner of the Jaguar Multimedia Training menu screen, the number 2.17 should be displayed. If 2.03 is displayed, repeat step 2. Select the Administrator function located at the top left of the screen. Select Dealership Set Up and follow the prompts to enter your dealership information and set the password for the Jaguar Multimedia Training system. Now select the Administrator function and Install/Uninstall Courses. Enter your password and follow the prompts to install Electrical for Beginners. When this is completed, remove the Electrical for Beginners CD from its drive. At the Desktop screen, double click on the Jaguar Multimedia Training icon to install more courses. Install other Jaguar Multimedia Training courses - Repeat step 3 to install Introduction to XK8 and V8 XJ Series Introduction. Finally, exit Jaguar Multimedia Training. PDU to PCV2.0 (PDU Capture) The PDU Capture icon already exists on the desktop screen, however, you MUST reload the software from the PDU to PC V2.0 CD-ROM for it to function. Insert the PDU to PC CD-ROM into the upper drive. Use the mouse to select Start, then Run. Type in the box, D:\setup and press enter. Remove the CD from the drive when the installation is completed. JTIS DISC Issue 4 Insert the JTIS DISC into the lower drive. Use the mouse to select Start, then Run. Type in the box, E:\install and press enter. To create a JTIS short cut icon at the Desktop screen, place the mouse arrow over the Jaguar Technical Information System icon in the JTIS application group. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the icon out of the application group box and onto the desktop screen. Refer to the last two pages of the booklet included with the Recovery Disk to install your choice of operating system on the DEALER partition. KNOWN ISSUES & PROBLEMS To restart the computer after Windows 95 Shut Down, you must press the space bar. The Windows 95 Task bar covers JMT Program Control Buttons. Windows 95 displays a Taskbar along the bottom of the screen which shows opened applications. it is possible that the Taskbar will cover the control buttons during Jaguar Multimedia Training courses. If this occurs, perform the following operations to deactivate the Taskbar: Starting at Desktop, select Start, Settings, Taskbar and click on "Always on top" to deselect that feature. The Taskbar can always be accessed by pressing the key with the Windows symbol located between the Ctrl and Alt keys. Error messages after loading PDU to PC disk V2.0. There may be error messages after loading PDU to PC disk V2.0, warning that older files replaced newer files during the loading process. If this occurs, click the "Ignore" button in the error message box. Paint is not activated in the Accessories program group. To activate Paint from Desktop, select Start, Settings, Control Panel. Click on Add/Remove Programs. Select the Windows Setup tab. Double click on Accessories and scroll down to Paint. Click on the box to activate Paint, then click OK. NOTE: Keep the Password Recovery Disk Version 1.01 and the Jaguar Recovery Disk Version 2.0 set in a safe place. Keep a copy of these instructions with the Jaguar Recovery Disk set. Discard the original Jaguar Multimedia Training Recovery CD and Boot Diskette and the original Password Recovery Diskette. Install training course CDs in the top drive and the latest JTIS CD in the bottom drive to minimize the need for swapping CDs.
