ISSUE This bulletin is for information only and outlines the procedure for initializing a replacement Key Transponder Module (KTM), as well as programming key transponders. ACTION SYNCHRONIZING KTM/ECM TO VEHICLES When a KTM is replaced, the control module MUST be synchronized to the existing module ECM or the vehicle will not start. Similarly, if an ECM is replaced, it must be synchronized to the existing KTM. Load the latest software in PDU. (1051 for XK8, 1055 for V8 XJ Series). Access diagnostics. Select vehicle setup. Select initialize immobilization to synchronize the ECM and KTM. IGNITION KEY TRANSPONDER PROGRAMMING If the KTM is replaced, all keys MUST be programmed at the same time. No more than 5 keys can be programmed to any one vehicle. If only the ECM is replaced, key transponder programming is not necessary. Ensure all of the vehicle's key are available for this procedure. No more than 5 keys can be programmed to one vehicle. Load the latest software for the vehicle into the PDU. (1051 for XK8, 1055 for V8 XJ Series). Access vehicle setup. Select security system setup. Select program new transponders. Ensure that only the key being programmed is in the ignition. (Remove key from a ring with other keys. If other Jaguar keys are near the reader exciter, they may also be detected, which will cause the KTM to interpret this condition as an invalid signal.)
