TSB : Steering Column / Shaft: Removal

Details

Disconnect the negative terminal (A) from the battery and then wait for 30 seconds. Fig 1: Disconnecting Negative Terminal From Battery Courtesy of HYUNDAI MOTOR CO. Tightening torque Nm (kgf.m, lb-ft): 40 ~ 50 (4.0 ~ 5.0, 29 ~ 36) After making the marks on the steering wheel and shaft for reinstallation, remove the steering wheel using a SST (09561-11002). Loosen the bolt (A) and then disconnect the universal joint assembly (B) from the steering gear assembly. Tightening torque Nm (kgf.m, lb-ft): 13 ~ 18 (1.3 ~ 1.8, 9.4 ~ 13.0) Fig 10: Identifying Bolt And Universal Joint Assembly Courtesy of HYUNDAI MOTOR CO. Remove the steering column assembly by loosening the steering column mounting bolts and nut (A).
